While photo sharing has always existed as a function on social networks, it seems like we've seen a huge explosion in the past couple of months with apps like Instagram, Picplz, Path and DailyBooth all making huge debut splashes and/or scaling fast.

Brian Pokorny holds that the sudden focus on photo sharing can be traced to three things 1) An increase in quality of cameras on mobile devices. 2) Ease of in-app photo consumption. 3) A 3G Internet Broadband connection that allows for photo uploading.
